Our elders hold an important place in our lives in many ways. A child adapts things from his elders. The ways he walks, talks, acts, grow, thinks, creates etc are all what he learns from his elders.

The people who are responsible and take a step forward to take care for their loved ones are often uninformed about what is best and what not to be done for elders.

At a senior/elder age people have frequent mood swings. This may at times make you either worried or frustrated. But you must be careful of this prime facet of their lives before you could actually think to take their care.

The following Elderly care tips will surely help you in providing a right direction:

1.    Invite their suggestions in discussion

Take the suggestions of your elder ones in crucial decisions like investing into property or getting married or other important issues. Instead of denying their views you must tell them that you’ll consider it while taking the final decision.

2.    Take them along with you to short trips or picnics

Organizing frequent trips will make them more active and energetic. They will feel a sense of youthfulness. Also they will have a good involvement with the family members and kids. Making them happy is an important aspect of elderly care.

3.    Serve the food they like at-least thrice a week-

You must be aware of their tastes and the nutrition they must get in their daily meal. So preparing the food that is a good combination of these will surely make them aware of how you feel for them.

4.    Buy them new clothes once in a month-

Don’t neglect their needs for good outfits while you go out to shop for yourself. You must keep into considerations about what they like to wear instead of pushing them to wear your fashion statements. Elder people generally like to wear descent shades of grey, brown or black and not spunky orange, red or pink.

5.  Keep the place neat and clean-

When people step into elder age, they get more anxious of the things to be organized well and places to be clean. So help them in keeping the surroundings clean, non-dusty and organized.

6.   Keep reminding them to take proper medicines on time

Elder people may be prescribed with some routine medicines and health tonics. Reminding them to take medicine on time will keep them in good health and stress-free.

Showing your love and affection to them is important which may be done through your words, body language and respect. Your elders are your loved ones, so always take a bit extra care of them.
